And so it begins

Today was the first rehersal of a new live, improv electronica act, Aumlaut, consisting of myself, Zerokey, and Jhimm. Our plan is to do live, mostly improve (if not all improv) electronica, alternating between industrial, noise, techno, dance, trance, etc... as our whims and spirits lead us.

Jhimm started out with some warming up on the drum machines (an Alesis SR-16 and a Boss DR-700) - his plan being to run a pattern off of one, and improvise a new pattern on the other, and then switching, to provide a continually changing/evolving rhythm pattern to our work.

We then proceeded to record two sessions of our playing. The first piece, Testing The Waters was 13 minutes of the three of us jamming out on our equipment. Jhimm on his drum gear, me on the cs1x and the fs1r, and jason trying out the wings on his Korg MS-2000. All in all, I have to say we had a very enjoyable time with it, and very quickly got into a groove with our sounds and rhythms.

The second piece, Heart Failure, is a much longer piece. We spent a lot more time 'playing' in this piece, trying random sounds, and such. I know I myself must have switched patches and faded the cs1x and fs1r in and out dozens of times throughout the track. We also cross a lot more styles in this piece. There are definately a bunch of rough points throughout this piece, but I think there's a lot of raw material we have here to go forward with.
